We will convene on the south lawn and begin the march at 10 AM. The route for the march will be around the Capitol building.
The Oklahoma Nurses March was organized to march in solidarity with those marching in Washington D.C. May 12th.
Our goal and focus:
Our goal is the unification of every nurse, across every healthcare setting, to produce significant reform needed in our healthcare system by PEACEFULLY lifting our collective voices in an effort to be heard on the subjects of:
~Nurse to patient ratios
~Federal legislation for violence against healthcare workers
~Fair and realistic wages for all nurses, across all healthcare setting; including, standing against any legislation that would impact nursing pay.
What we are NOT:
~A strike
~A riot
~A platform for vaccines mandates or the abolition there of. This movement will not weigh in on vaccine mandates one way or the other.
This march is a peaceful rally to bring awareness, unity, and support to the nursing profession in the name of reform for the safety of our patients and ourselves.
This march will be to demonstrate to our government that we feel unsupported by facilities and health systems that have not done enough to train and prepare new nursing professionals as well as implement policies and procedures to retain current staff.
We aim to bring awareness to the ways that nurses have been crippled in their abilities to safely care for patients, increase positive health outcomes, and assist patients in reaching their goals. Awareness to the emotional and mental anguish and trauma that nurses have experienced because we’ve been forced to endure impossible and unrealistic expectations will be brought to light.
The march at the capitol is a way for us to join in solidarity with the nurses in D.C. as a way to collectively raise our voices across the nation.
