Project managers must demonstrate leadership effectiveness throughout each phase of the project life cycle. Join us for our upcoming online course and start building the leadership skills you need to successfully manage a development project that meets the needs of donors and beneficiaries. You will learn about situational leadership and how anyone can have the opportunity to lead in times of confusion, difficulties, and challenges in the project. The course will teach you how to lead the team and project stakeholders to reach a common vision. The skills you will learn include communications, negotiations, conflict resolutions, coaching, presentation skills, and many more.
This course explains the challenges and issues concerning effective project leadership and how to best meet these challenges. It evaluates various leadership theories and will help project leaders assess their own personal styles; describes motivational approaches and barriers to team performance and the stages of team development. In this course, you will learn how to best resolve conflicts and manage agreement, and how to enhance communications effectiveness. You will develop the necessary skills to get the maximum performance from every member of the team, know how to apply the methods of leadership that are most appropriate for achieving project success, and discover which forms of leadership and communication are best suited to the various stakeholders. You will learn techniques for resolving conflict and managing team issues, and gain a solid understanding of the stages of team development and how to maximize project team effectiveness.

About this course
The course has a duration of three weeks. Each week, students will work on the activities and exercises required to meet the learning objectives. Participants require an average of one hour per day to complete the assigned activities. This course is specifically designed to focus on the practical application of project leadership concepts. Key topics of focus include an overview of leadership management, developing a project team, managing team conflict, communicating with stakeholders, and conducting effective negotiations.
Course Audience
This is the perfect course for those new to the role of project manager, and also for team members who want to develop their skills in leading a project. Course participants include team members, program managers, project supervisors, and project managers wishing to increase their skills and knowledge to understand the tools and techniques to lead a project. Participants to our courses come from various parts of the world, and they bring a wealth of experience and knowledge that is shared in the course forums.
Certification
Participants that successfully complete the course requirements will receive a certificate of completion mailed via postal mail at no extra cost. This course is part of the certification program CDPM (Certified Development Project Manager).
Course Requirements
There are no requirements to take this course, although the students will benefit if they know the type of work that occurs in development organizations and development projects, or had some experience working on a project. Students should have a good internet connection, Adobe Reader on their computers as well as MS Office to work on the course assignments.
