Feed the Hood

It’s that time again. We are looking for volunteers to help with our monthly #FeedTheHood Project.
What is Feed the Hood?
Each month members of the DC Black United Front and our community partners come together to assemble care packages to distribute to residents in need. These packages are distributed to several homeless shelters throughout Washington DC. This month we will be joined by Black Professionals in International Affairs, the Association of Black Psychologists, Commissioner Georgette Johnson of District 8C01 and you!. Care packages may include fresh fruits, sandwiches, soap, deodorant, lotion, chapstick and other essential items.
What do we need from you?
We are looking to assemble 200 care packages. We ask all volunteers to bring donations and spend two hours helping us make sandwiches, sort items, and distribute them to the community. You can click the RSVP link to see what items are needed.
Easy right? What wait? There’s more!
We also want to make sure the recreation center area is clean. So we ask some of the volunteers to help pick up trash and create a safe and comfortable place for our children and elders.
So sign up and help us feed and clean the community.
Volunteers are asked for a suggested donation of $10 to help obtain items for the care packages.
The Barry Farms Recreation Center is located just two blocks from the Anacostia Metro.
