Should We Educate for Liberty or Liberation?

April 7, 2022 @ 9:00 pm - April 8, 2022 @ 12:00 am EDT

In the aftermath of George Floyd’s death, a wave of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion programs spread throughout higher education. This new commitment often hinges upon training derived from clinically debunked implicit bias testing along with hiring schemes that ironically function to produce the very discrimination they claim to combat. DEI programs frequently serve to purge viewpoint diversity and instead require intellectual conformity, robbing faculty and students from liberty to explore difficult questions. Join us for a lecture featuring Dr. Jeffrey Polet as he explores DEI initiatives in higher education.
Dr. Jeffrey Polet is a professor of political science at Hope College. His research and publications center on American and European political thought, religion and politics, and constitutional law. Dr. Polet also servs as director at the Russell Kirk Center, editor for The Front Porch Republic, and is a frequent contributor to the Acton Institute, Liberty & Law, and other popular mediums. He is also co-editor of Documents Decoded: Church and State in America from ABC-CLIO.
This webinar event is hosted by the Bakersfield College Renegade Institute for Liberty and is free and open to the public.
