LGBTQ+ Memorial Walk For The Departed & Survivors Of Violence From Club Q & Beyond

November 23, 2022 @ 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm EST

LGBTQ+ Memorial Walk For The Departed & Survivors Of Violence From Club Q & Beyond
A Queer-Led memorial walk by a Queer BIPOC sibling for Queer Siblings and Accomplices. Create signs of love, solidarity, unity, and light. Bring pride flags of all colors representing all of the communities within the LGBTQ+ community. Bring flashlights, solar lights, glo-sticks, anything to show light and visibility.
We will meet at the corner of 26th and Downing starting at 4p which is where Whittier Elementary School is. We we start walking at 4:30p through Whittier and Five Points as a community. We will hold space throughout the walk for anyone who wishes to share uplifting or enlightening thoughts. We may chant as we go along to let our neighbors know what Love looks like.
The route. 26th Ave & Downing – 29th & Downing – down Welton to Park Ave – Park Ave to Court Place – Court Place to 23rd Ave – 23rd Ave to Downing – Downing to 26th Ave (Whittier Elementary where we started). Street parking is available all around the school block, but if you leave nearby of course you can walk over.
Our community is no stranger to senseless acts of violence just for existing. 17 people are injured and 5 people are dead because of hate. It gets exhausting to have to demand your place and take up space to exist, to love yourself in a world that doesn’t always love you back, but love conquers all and moves mountains. Everywhere I go and everything I do I have encountered hatred and pushback because of my color and my queerness. I push back harder and I rage. I preach that #youareloved and I work to uplift and inspire those around me. To be a light in a world of chaos and to be a space where love radiates wherever I am in all that I do is how I try to live. In order to do that, I have had to go THROUGH the pain and trauma of my experiences and find my own strength, tap into the depths of my soul to a fountain of love that never dries up, and heal. It is not easy to live your truth. It is not easy to LIVE instead of exist or survive, being your whole authentic self. It takes courage and strength. Most of all it takes love and light. Even the dimmest of light will brighten the darkest of places. Love your friends, family, and neighbors, always, especially check on your strong friends. Our community has its issues like any community, but when we come together we are resilient, fearless, and fierce. Everything is on the line, be unstoppable and rage against the darkness. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️✊🏾✊🏿✊🏽✊🏼✊🏻
