General Barbecue Cook-Off Rules
1.This is an amateur cooking contest and it is intended to be fun and competitive.
2.Only ONE team per barbecue pit will be allowed. Where cooking rigs contain two separate pits, two teams may cook (one team per pit).
3.Barbecue, for this contest, is defined as raw or uncured meat prepared over a wood or charcoal fire or gas fire.
4.No pre-seasoning or pre-cooking of the meat is allowed until it has been inspected and approved for cook-off use. Any meat found not in compliance with this rule will be disqualified.
5.Once your meats have been inspected and approved, they must not leave the contest area.
6.All entries must be prepared in a sanitary manner.
All applicable local health department rules and regulations must be complied with.
7. Fires are not to be built on the ground. Holes or pits will not be allowed.
8.No vehicles will be allowed in the event area after 3:00 PM you will need to park your vehicles in the designated parking area.
Cook/Team Responsibilities
1.Each team is responsible for the maintenance and cleanup of its cooking area. The Head Cook will be responsible for the conduct and behavior of team members and their
guests. Any team leaving its space in such a condition that the space requires additional clean -up will be disqualified from participation at future sanctioned events.
2.Each cooking team will designate one person as head cook and up to two-person as an alternate.
Judging Turn-In Requirements
1.Greens will be allowed in the judging container (NO RED LEAF LETTUCE). Sauces may be
used during the cooking process but cannot be in a separate container for entry presentation or judging.
2.Each contestant should submit 6 pieces of product, to facilitate adequate judging of the entry by judges.
3.Entries will be turned in at a set time. WE WILL NOT TAKE LATE ENTRIES.
4.Blind Judging will take place on all food entries. When teams turn in Food they will receive a number and that number will be written on the top of the entry box. This way it is judged as fair as possible. No Judges will know
whose box is whose.
5.The plan is for the Chicken turn-in to be 1:00 pm and Ribs at 1:25 pm. These times may change, but I will inform :everyone of the set turn-in time a week before the competition. I will email or call with more information about the competition.

We agree that the host of the cook-off, known as the Freedom Festival committee and any agent duly representing the host, shall not be held responsible for any loss, damage, or injury to the personal property of any of the contestants, or their family members or guests.
I have read and agree to abide by the rules and regulations covering this event and have informed all team members of the official rules.
