On the surface, it may *look* like President Joe Biden is flip-flopping, but it’s actually worse than a mere flip-flop. In his sweeping federal vaccine mandate, Biden shows that he only believes in your rights when you’re doing what *he* wants you to do… and he’ll say whatever he thinks you need to hear to get you there.
Even the NY Times is including coverage of this back-tracking in a great piece by our friend Robby Soave from Reason Magazine:
“There’s one person that President Biden desperately needs to consult about his new federal vaccine mandate: President-elect Biden. In December 2020, as the prospect of imminent mass vaccination against Covid-19 was finally becoming a reality, Mr. Biden leveled with the American people: He said he would not force anyone to get the jab.
“No, I don’t think it should be mandatory,” he told reporters. “I wouldn’t demand it be mandatory.”

The fact that Biden is contradicting past statements tells us that his plan all along was that we all get vaccinated and we all wear masks – he just didn’t think it would get to the point of needing a mandate. He didn’t anticipate the powerful voice of the people, like you, who said even if they made the personal choice* to get vaccinated they didn’t believe in the use of force by our government upon its citizens.
Reminds me of the old AT&T joke** when they were the monopolistic landline phone company – “You can get your phone in any color you like, as long as it’s black.” Biden simply thought we’d all want black. Surprised we’re demanding more choices, more colors***, Mr. President?
We’ve got news for you – the People for Liberty believe in upholding the rights of America’s citizens even if it goes against your wishes. And we’ll be mobilizing voters in 2022 and 2024 to demand more choices, more voices, and better representation from our elected officials, too.
That’s a promise.

*PS – Quoting from my previous blog on this topic, I will reiterate that I believe, “…you should feel welcome and empowered to choose to get vaccinated if that’s your choice. It also means that if you choose not to, you won’t be forced, manipulated, bribed, or otherwise coerced into a medical decision by the government. It’s your decision, not the government’s.”
